Fairy small world

Small worlds are a great way for kids to act out their imaginary stories in a themed setting. There are just no limits which themes you create. Here, I created a magical fairy small world for my kids. Read on to get inspired and create your own small world.

What did I include in my magical small world?

As the base I used a for this small world I used a pink piece of fabric. That just gives the whole small world a strong pop of color. Blue glass stones represent a little river.

I added a few sparkly clover leafs and a metal flower that I had laying around from some other art projects. These extra elements give lots of different opportunities for your child to get creative with her imaginative play.

Other toys I also included that we already had at home are a wooden rainbow, some colored pepples, a fairy tree house, unicorn, horse, butterfly and a little chelsea doll.

Use what you already have at home. I’m sure once you start looking you will find many things you can use that would fit the theme.

Make your fairy small world a sensory experience

To turn this small world into a great sensory experience I added a play foam. You can see in the video here how it still moves after being touched.

This play foam does not stick to your hands, is dry and does not leave any residue. I really love it. Clean up is also easy with a broom (to keep it for next time) or a vacuum cleaner.

My kids just love this playfoam (you can get it here) because it is so fascinating to watch and feel. They can play with it easily for an hour!

Furthermore, my kids responded very well to a “magical” tinsel curtain. Again I had this left over from other craft projects and just attached it to the treehouse.

Got inspired?

I hope you got inspired by this post and found some nice ideas for your own fairy small world for your kids. I would  love to see pictures from your small world setup and hear what you think in the comment section below.
